The Sand Mountain Baptist Association (SMBA) is a cooperative fellowship of Southern Baptist churches in Northeast Alabama (DeKalb & Jackson Counties), established in 1977, focused on supporting member churches in fulfilling the Great Commission through missions, discipleship, and community outreaches. They operate with voluntary financial support, valuing church autonomy while working together on shared ministries, often highlighted through their Facebook page and involvement in local events and missions.Â
Chris Guinn is our Director of Missions, and Michelle Stiefel serves as our Ministry Assistant.
Key Aspects of SMBA:
- Mission: To engage, equip, and encourage churches to spread the Gospel and serve their communities.
- Focus: Supporting local churches in evangelism, discipleship, and missions.
- Activities: Organizing events like “Manna on the Mountain,” supporting local mission centers (Helping Hands), and facilitating church cooperation.
- Structure: A network of autonomous churches that pool resources for broader impact, funded by voluntary contributions.
- Community: Serves the DeKalb and Jackson County areas, with links to the broader Southern Baptist Convention.
